  • Daughter of Christian IX of Denmark
  • Had a fine collection of Danish paintings and decorative art
  • Formed a splendid collection of works by Fabergé, helped by her sister Dagmar (Marie Feodorovna) who had married the future Tsar Alexander III in 1866
  • An enthusiastic and prolific amateur photographer
  • Her principal residences were Marlborough House, London (1863–1901 and 1911–25) and Sandringham House, Norfolk, in addition to Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle
